So everyone has been doing Church on Facebook.

It wasn’t something we really looked at doing; though we were raising the question with our bible classes at school.  A number of our classes our online now but bible wasn’t.   Pidor our bible teacher post a short message on her facebook recently because she’s so connected with so many of the students and she misses them and not sharing with them.

I saw a post from our friend up North saying he normally has 20 people attending service and his first message got 500 views.
This got me to thinking, this would be a perfect opportunity to get the message into the home.  Our first Sunday at home with just the 5 of us helped give me incite to what others might feel.  It was a bit awkward singing in a room with your family, and the hour long message online found the kids tired.  So we talked about putting on FB church with the idea of the child at home and how it would be received.  How would they worship to a phone with people watching?
Then the idea which was the best part of this.  It hit me while being concerned of the child being shy to worship alone to the phone with people watching.  That people watching is what we wanted.  We encouraged the students to listen to the message near their family at home so they could hear it as well.    So give mom the message while she’s cooking kind of thing.  We asked to have the message arranged to appeal to the parent as well as the student.

So the idea we’ve mentioned was to get some great songs on that the kids will sing along to anyway naturally, so their in the mood.  Then pause say “Hey’ lets pray and worship together”  Then as they are comfortable to sing alone worship and pray.  Then with the message, keep it light shorter interesting, something to keep the students interested and again appealing to the family with in earshot of the program.  I said if you only had one shot at reaching this person what would you say that would draw them in and making them want to listen.    I was just so thrilled with this idea because we’ve had a lot of interaction with the parents listening into the kids study online, some of the parent have been leaving nice comments about how pleased and thankful they are for what is being done for their children.

I have had this thought as we reach into the homes these next couple weeks it might very well open the doors to the parents being invited on Sunday, it might lead us into growth of our fellowship and start including some adults.   This week we had a church express interest in our need for a roof for the church.  I am praying all these things come together well.   Also I hope that our churches facebook presents remains after the virus problems lift, we certainly don’t have room for 900 people.

So the good news, Yes, we posted a live feed yesterday during service.  Normally we have about 80 students of all ages come, split in between children and youth.  Sundays post received 933 views in multiple countries and 34 shares.  Honestly I was shocked really, just shocked.  Here is just a little speculation, average family household in Cambodia is 5 if all 5 people.  If anyone more than the viewer heard the message Sunday, like mom or prayerfully the whole family.  There’s a real good chance we reached well over 1000 I’d say conservatively.  So fascinating for me.

Then we start getting messages from a student asking how to know and believe in God that they want to believe but don’t yet.

It was very exciting to us this morning.  I encourage you in this think of your viewer in your posting and more importantly think about those who will hear the message just because they happen to be in the room and see if your message can reach them as well.
