I think I did a post about miracles recently, anyways.
Here’s an event today that I’d call a miracle, for us at least.
Over the years many of you may have seen us talk a lot and post a lot about trying to save up for a security deposit being required by the Education department for new schools. Mainly they wanted any new schools to have funds on hand to cover any bad business plan and they failed leaving students stranded and the government to pick up the pieces. It happens a lot here. The “on hand” part was in the form of a security deposit to the national bank, to which many knew meant never seeing it again.
Anyways we’ve always had a bit of trouble with this because we are not a new school. A new school was 5 years or newer and we’ve been operating for 8 years now. We also had our paper work and signatures and everything was legit and in order. We were however stuck in a catch 22 as they say, the ED. office didn’t file our paper work properly, the guy there was a con-artist ripping a lot of schools off. The office held the paper for 2 years and did a lot of other things. So even though we’re an old school the ed. office considered us new.
So we’ve been holding off in paying this hoping, we even filed for a 1 year extension to pay, but pay later. Out of 10 schools caught in the same problem with the same office. Only we were allowed the extension. This was seen as a miracle to those in the education office, they were really wowed by this.
So we’re basically coming around to that one year time and I’ve been pushing Ream to call and find out when exactly we’d have to pay.
You see the education office manager person was suppose to come out and have us sign a contract that we’d pay in one year. But he didn’t show up that week. We kind of let it go because we did want to remind the guy. That’s why we didn’t really know what date it was due, but we were figuring it was going to be a couple months. We do have the $18,000 saved up but we’d like to do other things with it, like build.
So this afternoon Ream begrudgingly made the call to the ED. department.
The office manager said he didn’t show up that week because they passed a new law stating that all schools would not have to pay the deposit now. We get to keep our money and do great things with it instead. Yeah!!!!!!.
Also icing on the cake…. Our license needing to be renewed next year; no longer. Schools will not have to renew their licenses anymore. Yeah!!!!!.
This is such a big boost for the school, the fight was worth it.
God is good.
