We’ve been building classrooms since last year, September 2017. We’d get close to finishing and then we’d get more funds and make the choice to build more. There were a couple reasons for continuing to build. One was cost savings, as we had two campuses a number of expenses were double. The other big reason was running two offices managing two separate properties was a handful. So when more funds came, the idea to push forward and complete the project was easy to make. This other Friday construction on classroom had been completed. This past month remaining classes moved from the old school to their new campus. May we saved $500 just on internet and rent and hard expenses. We also increase in revenue in snack shop sales. It was a good move to have everyone under one roof.
This month we’ve made some policy changes on how we spend money, trying to take the small home made org. into a larger accountable larger NGO. It’s been real good, we hired an accounting firm to train a new accountant, we now have a front end cashier. Our shopping and purchasing policies have been updated. We are moving from day to day shopping of a home kitchen to a bulk system and working hard to work with vendors to ship and buy on credit.
If you aren’t aware where we are located this stuff is very difficult stuff to accomplish in a village. We’ve also spoken with my father to work with local farmers more, buying directly from them, most of them are also pastors.
All in all I’d say up front we’re looking at saving around 30% conservatively on operations next month with these changes.
As we move to bulk we’re going to need to upgrade kitchens and storage to handle it but in the end it will be worth it.
This is the best part of all this with theses savings being projected we’re raising our start salary and going to make retirement plans happen finally. The staff have made some real sacrifices working for us as we’ve raised the school from a regular yearly loss to profitable. It’s taken a long time to creep tuition from $2.50 a month to now average of $14. (average school in the city is $150 to $300 a month) It’s going to be a great blessing and boost to moral to the teachers. It’s going to enable us to hire better staff and have higher retention rate with the staff we have.
We’ve bought 10 truck loads of gravel to lay for the basketball court.
The importance of the basketball court for us is understated.
It will also be our church and meeting area. We currently we’re meeting on the yard. So the court is becoming pretty important for us to complete.
There is a fundraiser on going if you to would like to help us complete this project as well. We’re looking at $18,000 to complete the church and court.
Thank you all
