First, I am sorry it’s been sometime we’ve gotten a good post out. To say it’s our busy time of the year is an understatement this year.
I am hoping to get a proper update out with pictures this month. Hold me accountable on that if I forget.
I did want to tell you some new that just came in.
Evidently our school’s 12th grade scores are hire than we know, not higher in percent but I am starting to think it was higher than more schools than we know. Our percent was 75% pass rate I think can’t remember, but our province average was 49%. The country average was 62% I think. Anyways we got a phone call, a couple today actually.
First phone call was from the testing department of the education ministry. They want to see our licence. Maybe they thing there is something mischievous there, so we sent over a copy today.
Second phone call today was from the Takeo State/Province education department, the have required us to make a presentation on how we educate our children and how we are achieving success. This is scheduled for Jan. I want to be forward with them and tell them there’s no magic just Christ and love for the work and leave it at that. I think they’ll be shocked at what we don’t know.
I pray to be a good witness during this meeting.
Third we got a phone call from the Child Welfare Department in Phnom Penh. The orphanage has received a new licence. We have one but this is a new second one, not too sure the differences between the two as the filing was the same. Anyway I believe Ream said we’re second organisation to receive this new license and as such we will receive it from the Minister on television. I’m suppose to buy a suit.
We’ve started the 2017 – 2018 school year. Early last year our enrollment reached 510 students I think. Over the course of the year we lost quite a few and ended up at 450 I think. This year we’ve taken well over 150 new students and have surpassed 600 students.
We’ve added a 2nd, 4th grade class and a 5th grade class. We had an extra teacher, an extra class and over 30 students on the waiting list. We’ve added Chinese and extra English classes on top of the extra classes for the children that are behind at the public school.
We had a fund raiser start a couple months ago and we surpassed that goal yesterday.
We’ve added 4 class rooms to the property and are adding 3 more plus a new office.
I’ve personally been drowning in in office work since September and Ream’s been handing the teachers and the opening of the school this year.
We’ve had a couple good teams roll through. I’ll get into more with the next post, but they’ve been focused on disciplining the students at school and here at the house. As well as follow up visit to students homes with great results.
Got to praise God for all that is going on. It’s definitely way crazy right now, but so good in so many ways as well.
Thank you to all who helped us reach some financial goals this year and to all who have been praying for us.
